Once again a distasteful and insulting piece of propaganda written by an obviously ignorant individual , hunters ,fisherman and trappers come from many walks of life and there are no more hillbilly's and Neanderthals in the activity's than any other walk of life, mr.McRae seems to have a preformed opinion but i find his writing here pathetic , funny how being a lifelong hunter and trapper and knowing many other's like me i don't know anyone who speaks in this manner and his comparison of hunters to military also shows his disrespect for the armed forces here and abroad .


Well enough of that , on to the real facts about the coyote issues facing much of Ontario and in particular eastern Ontario , there is nothing wrong with a contest for coyotes we have laws we follow about wanton waste and the pelts of coyotes are no expection so they are not being wasted ,coyote hunters hunt coyotes all winter long already and there is a large population which is affecting livestock producers in the area of the contest ,I,m sure many of those producers would love to have the numbers reduced and finally as a tax payer which pays for compensation to those producers for lost livestock due to coyote predation i also have no problems with this contest if it helps to remove a few more coyotes

In closing : I'd like to say mr.McRae get your head out of your ass

i've been trapping muskrats scince i was 8 years old my grandfather was a trapper and passed the skills on to me, after years of work  i've been able to become a proffesonial trapper  i fur trap when the pelts are at their best and run my wildlife control business during the rest of the year .

the end of an area for a southwestern ontario company , champion produced the first grader ,the first motor grader and the first all- hydraulic grader and employed many people along the way but it seems just like many other manufacturing plants here in ontario once they are bought out by bigger corparations off they go in the name of corprate profits my question is when is the goverment of this country that is so rich in resources and talent going to start looking out for the people that pay their wages and start looking after our industry before it's all gone

Statistics show the predation problem has been steadily worsening in Ontario in recent years. Under its wolf/coyote predation program, the province has paid $1,038,618 in claims to farmers for 2007-2008, compared with $950,775 in 2006-2007. In 2005-2006, the amount paid out was $823,948.Many of these claims are by farmers who are just scraping by as it is and would far rather have their animals than the goverment's money , i think the ontario goverment needs to start providing funding to these producers  to hire proffesional trappers to help them with their problems
