beaver , canada's animal

Well the fur harvest season is over here in canada for another season and the fur market much like the rest of the world econemy sits in doldrums for many of the trappers who manage the wildlife in the provinces it means that harvesting the main animal that brought the first explorers here is not fesible the current price of good prime beaver pelts is not keeping up with cost of production and what that end's up meaning to the rest of the population here in canada is increased property damage and flooding form this very prolific rodent and the costs assocated with  trapping beaver out of season and removing dams that are causing flooding  without some stimlius in the fur market soon i'm afraid we are going to go the way of many of the southeasten united states were they have to manage beaver year round just to stop the damage and 90% of the time the reasource is wasted , it seems this is the road we are on here in canada also and it sems such a waste for our national animal and a very valueable natural renewable reasoure we have in them , i guess the use of renewable resources in our scoicity is really nothing more then lip service

here is a short clip from the southern us showing what could be in store for us here
